Pay Per Click VS Search Engine Optimization

In the world of Internet search marketing, there is a king and there’s a queen – it has always been very debatable about which one trumps the other, PPC or SEO.

Pay Per Click being a form of paid advertising is mainly related to Google AdWords, however there are other platforms such as Bing Ads, Facebook  Advertising and Twitter Advertising – all of these advertising platforms follow the same PPC principles, i.e the advertiser pays per click the advert receives. Search Engine Optimization differs largely and it is mainly down to content, whether that is through social media, website or blog articles – good quality content benefits SEO! Now putting them up against each other who will come out on top?

Pros of PPC Advertising:

  • Cost effective
  • Endless opportunities
  • Guaranteed results
  • Daily/monthly set budgets

Cons of PPC Advertising:

  • Can be time consuming
  • Budget can be used quickly unless careful

Pros of SEO:

  • Permanent organic listings
  • No cost per click
  • 24/7 visibility

Cons of SEO:

  • Nothing is guaranteed
  • Results take time
  • Can be expensive if hiring experts
  • Not visible at first glance on mobile due to paid ads

To summarize this and bring the final verdict, PPC wins. With Pay Per Click the pros highly outweigh the cons, however with SEO the cons outweigh the pros; so that fact is why PPC is king! But don’t forget, PPC and SEO working together to generate more private patients for your practice is always the best scenario.
